Karan Taneja
Karan is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Georgia Tech, currently working on the Jill Watson project. He is broadly interested in developing AI tools for scaling quality education. His research interest includes machine teaching, natural language processing, and conversational systems.
John Kos
John Kos is a second year PhD here at the Designing Intelligence Lab. Before starting his PhD, he completed an undergraduate in Computer Science at University of Maryland College Park and a Masters through Georgia Tech’s OMSCS program. His current research is focused around building a holistic understanding of andragogy and figuring out the unique challenges that come with teaching people to solve open ended problems. In his free time John likes reading sci-fi and doing amateur game design.
Jisu Kim
Jisu Kim is a highly motivated master’s student at GT Interactive Computing, currently advised by Ashok Goel and previously by Juho Kim (KAIST). Her research interests are at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a goal to develop impactful and responsible AI solutions that improve human-AI interactions and benefit all humanity. She holds a solid academic foundation with a double major of Computer Science and Business Technology Management, specializing in AI, and hands-on experience as a machine learning intern at Samsung. She is applying for Ph.D. programs for Fall 2025.

Jennifer Jordache
Jennifer Jordache is currently a graduate student in computer science at Georgia Tech, specializing in Interactive Intelligence. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and started her career on the trading floor at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, followed by a few years in quantitative finance at an investment firm in Vancouver, Canada where she is based. Jennifer is passionate about applications of technology for social good and is particularly interested in how artificial intelligence can enhance the educational experience. Jeanette Luu
Jeanette Luu is a Java software engineer. She is working toward my M.S degree with the College of Computing, Machine Learning. Her research interest includes Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and their applications on lab testing.
Grace Brazil
Grace Brazil is a masters student in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, on track to graduate in December 2025. Her passion for artificial intelligence and its potential to seamlessly collaborate with humans stems from her background in hardware and software engineering.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of Central Florida, Grace started a career in the tech industry. She joined Qualcomm as an Engineer and quickly rose to the position of Senior Engineer, focusing on hardware and software integration and testing within the 5G modem system team.
Grace firmly believes that the future holds immense potential for humans and computers to not only interact but to learn and collaborate effectively through AI models that integrate with human cognitive models. This vision fuels her desire to develop practical solutions that bridge the gap and enhance human-AI collaboration.

Firat Taxpulat
Firat Taxpulat is a graduate student at Georgia Tech under the M.S. in Computer Science program with a Specialization in Computational Perception and Robotics. Before attending Georgia Tech, Firat graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics with a Specialization in Computing. Firat is a research assistant for the Design Intelligence Lab at Georgia Tech as a member of the Jill Watson team under the supervision of Dr. Ashok Goel. His research interests involve applying scalable educational systems using artificial intelligence tools to promote learning of historically underrepresented Central Asian languages.
Firat is a Senior Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin working on air vehicle software under Advanced Development Programs / Skunk Works. Prior to Lockheed Martin, Firat worked on flight instrumentation software at Edwards Air Force Base. With his interests in aeronautics and robotics, Firat co-founded a NASA RASC-AL Competition Team at Georgia Tech and is a member of the Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) Aquabots: Maritime Robotics research group at Georgia Tech under the supervision of Dr. Michael West.
Outside of work and school, Firat is actively engaged in his community of Palmdale, CA as the Lead Computer Vision Mentor for FIRST Robotics Competition Team 5012: Gryffingear at The Palmdale Aerospace Academy and as the Competition Day Volunteer Coordinator for the Aerospace Robotics Competition. In his free time, Firat enjoys running, reading, NBA, and feeding his neighborhood’s stray cats.
