Jayson Brown is a Research Scientist at AI-ALOE with experience in software engineering for education and non-profits. He is committed to supporting students and teachers through technology. Jayson holds a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Computer Science. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games.

Cherie Lum is a current master’s student in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. She pursued undergraduate studies in sociology and business at the University of Vermont. Previously, Cherie worked as an event planner, orchestrating luxury weddings and corporate parties as well as changed careers into being a front-end software engineer. Cherie is passionate about merging her love for technology with her inherent drive to connect people. Cherie contributes to this mission at the AI-ALOE lab, where they strive to enhance online learning for a diverse student population. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and connecting solo female travelers together at www.inthepark.co.

Travis Taylor is an MSCS student at Georgia Tech specializing in Interactive Intelligence. Travis holds a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is an alum of the Cognitive Neurolinguistics Lab at the Center for Mind and Brain at UC Davis. Travis has professional experience in econometrics, data science, software engineering, and adult education. Travis’s research interests include Human-AI interaction, explainable AI, cognition, and design.

Rahul Dass is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Georgia Tech. Currently, he leads the VERA and Ivy teams at DILab and AI-ALOE with research interests in personalized learning and self-explanation. Prior to joining GT, as a U-LINK interdisciplinary fellow with a background in Responsible AI, he obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Miami in 2022. He previously interned at Amazon as an Applied Scientist with the AWS Responsible AI team and volunteered as Lead Data Scientist at a non-profit tackling news disinformation. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and visiting National and State Parks with his family.

Sandeep Kakar is a Research Scientist in the Design & Intelligence lab of the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interest centers around using artificial intelligence to improve learning outcomes in online education. He holds an MS in Computer Science. His previous education includes a Ph.D. in Physics and an MBA.

Ploy Thajchayapong has her Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University. She worked as a post-doc at Georgia Tech before joining Tech Industry in Data Science field.  After 8 years in a Big 4 consulting firm and an AI start-up, she is now a Research Scientist at AI-ALOE and DILab.
