Welcome to C&C 2011

Featured

The 8th ACM Conference on Creativity and Cognition will be held from November 3rd through November 6th in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Started in 1993, the Creativity & Cognition (C&C) conference series have evolved into lively interdisciplinary meetings, bringing together artists and scientists, designers and educators, researchers and practitioners.

The theme of Creativity and Cognition 2011 is Creativity and Technology. We seek to understand human creativity in its many manifestations, to design new interactive techniques and tools to augment and amplify human creativity, and to use computational media technologies to explore new creative processes and artifacts in all human endeavors ranging from the arts to science, from design to education.

We cordially invite submissions to the 8th ACM Conference on Creativity & Cognition (C&C 2011) as well as to the related art program, tutorials, workshops, and graduate student symposium. We welcome contributions from researchers and practitioners, from artists and scientists, from designers, educators and decision makers. Please see details under CFP.

All submissions to C&C 2011 are now closed.

You can view our contact information here.

Please note: At least one author of every accepted submission must register for the conference.

Tour of MOMA Exhibit at High

Please join us for a tour of the MOMA Exhibit at the High Museum entitled “From Picasso to Warhol: Fourteen Modern Masters.” The tour is free for all C&C 2011 conference participants. It will take place from 8pm to 9pm on the evening of Friday, Nov. 4th, as part of the conference reception and poster session.

40 Second Madness

Each poster presenter will get 40 seconds to talk about their poster to the main conference on Friday, Nov. 4th. Please prepare just 1 slide including the title and the authors of the poster (along with a no-more-than 40 second talk). Please bring your slide on an USB stick compatible with Windows XP.

Speakers whose last names begin with letters A through M will talk in the session on Public Art chaired by Jim Davies. Speakers with last names beginning with N-Z will talk in the session on Design I chaired by Nancy Nersessian. Before the start of your session, please make sure that your slide is transferred to the computer being used for presentations.

Social Networking

With the conference now close at hand, we wanted to encourage everyone to find us on Facebook and on Twitter. You can Like us by going to our Facebook page, or by clicking “Like” in the Facebook widget on the side of the conference home page.

Also, you can follow us on Twitter at @acm_cc2011. We will be live-tweeting the conference from this account. We also want to encourage conference attendees (and those who could not make the trip) to use the hashtag #acm_cc11.

We look forward to seeing you all at the conference next week!

Talk Information

Each talk (except in the panels) will be 20 minutes long including Q&A. Please leave at least 3 (and preferably 5) minutes for Q&A. This means that the talk should be no more than 15-17 minutes long.

The High Museum has a laptop running Windows XP in the main auditorium. Please bring your talk on a USB stick so that it can be rapidly moved to the laptop during breaks before your session starts.

Poster Information

All posters should be no larger than 36″ x 48″. C&C 2011 will supply poster stands, boards, and pins. You can set up your poster on any stand you wish. Since setting up a poster likely will take no more than a few minutes, you can do so after the end of main session on the first day (Friday, Nov. 4th).

We have coupled the poster session with the conference reception so that the posters can get the attention they deserve.
